Rockstar Games Jobs Analysis

I am going to be using the job position for ‘Senior technical artist’ as an example as to how I would try and apply for the role. Normally, I would refrain from touching any job position with the words ‘senior’ and technical’ in the title, but in this case, they were the only available art jobs. 

This job relays heavily on the need to write reports and to analysis the team’s work and document their use of code and animation. My job would be to help resolve any issues that the team may come across, and make sure that if needed to, they can cross with other departments of the company to help them finish projects. This also involves me documenting and reporting on workflows created within the team.  

I would try and relate these reasonability’s to my own past work experience, despite it not being in animation, I would try and prove that I have the qualities/discipline needed for the job and try and relate my past job’s experiences to what this employer is currently seeking. 

My position at my previous job involved me needing to manage a team and draft reports on production, which is similar to what Rockstar games is asking for in this vacancy. I was responsible for looking after the team, as well as recruiting who would be in the team to begin with and what jobs to assign each co-worker to what task. I had to make notes on my team members’ strengths and weaknesses and their performance and ensure to assign them to the most suitable job for each member or offer training if they wanted to progress.  

During this time, I had to supply clients such as Waitrose, Morrisons and co-op with the finished product, packaged and quality checked ready for delivery. I was responsible for my team and making sure that production ran smoothly. This included fixing machinery when it was faulty, recording and documenting the process and run time, and collaborating the weights of each product to the machine. 

In my graphic design projects, there have been cases where I have had to work as a team with other designers and make sure we all had completed a research/designing topic in accordance with a deadline. I would try to elaborate on the software used and how we overcame challenges in order to deliver the final product. I would show examples of when I was asked to animate in Cinema4D, and try to explain the process behind the project. Lastly, I would state that I am capable of adopting to a new environment and do my best to convey that I am certain of my decisions when put in a position of such responsibility.
